Actually.....

Playing Catch Up
I can't promise that this blog will be in any particular order. I'm a bit sleep deprived. Anderson was sick all last night. There is nothing more pitiful than when your kid is sick, tired and puking all night. She's still snoozing away so I'm just gonna throw out some pics and stories and pray that it posts!
Trevor got me an iPhone for Christmas. The iCloud is an amazing feature as far as pictures, calendars, reminders, etc. I can't even explain how much it has simplified things! Siri and I are stilling getting to know each other. She can be a bit temperamental at times but when she's working...she's amazing!!!
Last Tuesday we had two wonderful additions to the Sheets family. Sarah and Katie both had their babies on the same day!!! How crazy is that?! AnnHadly weighed in at 7 pounds.

And Olson was a wee bit early and weighed in at 2 pounds 15 ounces! But he is doing great and getting big and strong!

I can't wait to meet both of them and I know Anderson is excited too! She loves babies!!! Since the weather has been somewhat mild lately (let's be real....it's cold and dreary to me unless it's above 70 degrees), we have been able to test out Anderson's new bike. She is still a bit scared on it. The whole coasting thing is foreign to her. But she's doing good!

Crosby has to be bundled up for our outings.

Joey got a sweet car for Christmas and the girls had a blast riding up and down the culdesac. FYI: I didn't make her keep the helmet on. She insisted.

We had our first snow while Trevor was in Colorado. Okay...it was barely anything but I'm counting it!

I also went all Sleeping With the Enemy, OCD while Trevor was gone. LABELS MUST FACE FORWARD!!!

I took off work while he was gone so I clearly had a lot of extra time. I also watched some tutorials and learned how to do a waterfall braid! If only Anderson would let me fix her hair....I've got some mad skills.

Anderson thinks its fun to put on my glasses. She also thinks its a hoot when I blow on her oatmeal to cool it and my glasses fog up. She tried really hard to make it happen for her.

One day while I was off work Anderson fell asleep with three minutes left in rest time. She tried real hard to stay awake but just couldn't make it. I moved her safely onto the couch after I snapped the picture.

She LOVES to help cook! She loves to add the ingredients to things and help stir. She especially loves baking cookies. So i decided to let her make cookies all by herself and she was so pumped! Little does she know that breaking off the pieces from premade dough doesn't actually count as cooking. 😊

Crosby is one of the smiliest babies I've ever known. He's a very happy baby and loves to kick and coo (yell really loud) and smile. It doesn't take much at all to get a huge grin out of him. Having said that...he's definitely got a scowl. It seems like as soon as he sees the camera, phone or iPad...he starts mean mugging.

I promise he's a happy baby! I may have posted this picture before but here is proof!

I thought this next picture was cute. Trevor and Crosby were all snuggled up snoozin away!

And last but not least...I'd like to introduce you to my third child, Paxton. (Creepy looking picture, huh?!)

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I know I did! I took off a lot from work and got to enjoy some much needed rest at home! At work I'm gearing up for Father Daughter Date Night. It starts in February and tickets go on sale this weekend. Wish me luck that I survive with no major catastrophes!!! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

Life Insurance
Last week Trevor and I finally got around to getting some life insurance. We both have a little through work but if anything were to actually happen it wouldn't cover a whole lot. We've been meaning to get more since Anderson was born but just never got around to it. It's one of those things you think about right before bed or in the car or giving your kids a bath.....ya know.....you never think about it when you actually have time to do it! So Crosby gave us the push to do it. That and Trevor has a wonderful friend that is an insurance agent that did all the leg work for us. He didn't let us forget! Anyway, we both feel much better having done that. At least I know I rest better.
The same week that we signed for the life insurance Trevor got some horrible news. The mother of one of his students died at Cummins Falls. She'd been hiking with her husband and a friend and slipped on some leaves and fell down a cliff. It turns out that I worked with her at Red Lobster in Oak Ridge a million years ago. We were both on the opening team of that restaurant. I didn't really know her but I recognized her picture in the paper. This story has continued to haunt me. It was a total accident. She wasn't doing anything wrong. She was hiking and slipped. She wasn't rappelling, she wasn't climbing up the falls, she wasn't doing anything dangerous. She was hiking with her husband. And she slipped. I kept asking Trevor over and over if he'd found out more details and he kept telling me that was it. I wanted to find out that there'd been some risky behavior. But no. She really had just slipped. An accident.
I have a very hard time hearing that. You go about your life and you try to be safe and careful. You go to the doctor and get checkups. You eat healthy. You exercise. You make good choices. You never think in a million years that you could die in such a fluke accident. I hear about car wrecks and other types of accidents and they upset me too. But for some reason this one has really gotten to me. I think about her husband and how hard it will be for him to deal with. I think about her poor son and how this has and will affect him. I think about his teachers, Trevor especially. I hope they are able to help him throughout the year and help the other children understand the situation as well. Trevor's so good with kids and handling delicate situations like this. I pray that he can provide the little boy comfort this year.
I'm not even sure why I'm writing all this today. Maybe I'm feeling emotional. Maybe I just enjoy a good cry. Maybe it's so that if Trevor has to cash in on my life insurance policy that he prints a copy of this blog and maybe my two kids will be able to see a glimmer of the love their mother has for them. I think that's what gets me the most....will this little boy know how much his mother loved him? My mother wrote a letter to me almost 10 years ago and at the end of it she said that not until I held my own baby in my arms would I ever know her love for me. She was right. I had no idea. Not until I had Anderson did I realize how much my mother loved me. I felt like I'd come full circle. You have no idea until you feel it. I wish so bad that I'd been able to feel this while she was alive. That connection.
Life insurance. Who knew it was such a doozie of a topic?! Maybe that's why I put it off. Who wants to think about losing your spouse or leaving your kids? I just hope and pray that they realize how much I love them and how much they've completed my soul. Sounds cheesy but I don't care. Trevor is the ying to my yang. God did a lot of finagling to get us together. He had two amazing children planned for us. And it took us a long time to get here but we made it. I can't imagine anything better.
